GLOVERSVILLE – The Gloversville Common Council voted to last week approve a $16,350 budget for the city Recreation Commission’s slate of 13 events for 2023, including a new partnership with the Glove Theatre to sponsor family friendly movies on Sundays from January to March.
The Recreation Commission’s budget is up about $5,700 from 2022 when it was $10,650 for 10 events. That allotment was approved in February 2022.
“It’s a little bit earlier this year than normal, just so we can hit the ground running after the first of the year to start planning,” said City Clerk Jenni Mazur, council liaison to the five-member Recreation Commission.
The city government and recreation commission both posted the lineup for the new Sunday Friendly Movie Matinee schedule to social media on Dec. 21. All movies will be shown at 2 p.m.
The dates and titles include: Jan. 15: “The Goonies”; Jan. 22: “Footloose”; Jan. 29: “E.T.”; Feb. 5: the 1971 version of “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder; Feb. 12: “A League of their Own”; Feb. 19: “Jumanji”; Feb. 26: the 1998 version of “The Parent Trap”, starring Lindsay Lohan; and March 5: “Jurassic Park.”
Below is the complete lineup of Recreation Commission 2023 events with the total money allotted to each one and how it compares to 2022.
