Northampton man faces felony assault count after fight, order of protection violation, troopers say

NORTHAMPTON – A Northampton man struck and injured someone with a household item and violated an order of protection Sunday, New York State Police said.

Thomas E. Lamphear Jr., 47, of Northamption, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and first-degree criminal contempt, felonies, along with misdemeanor weapons possession, police said.

Troopers responded to the Northampton home just before 7 p.m. Sunday for reports of a physical altercation with injuries, police said.

The investigation determined Lamphear struck the victim with the item, resulting in an injury. The victim had an order of protection against Lamphear, police said.

Lamphear was arraigned and ordered held on $7,500 bail, police said.
