GLOVERSVILLE – A Fonda resident was killed in a Tuesday evening snowmobile accident in Gloversville, police said.
Police identified the snowmobiler killed as 18-year-old Skyler R. Olmstead.
The incident happened just after 9 p.m. near the intersection of Route 30A and South Kingsboro Avenue, police said.
Police responded there for a report of a snowmobile accident. They arrived to find an unconscious Olmstead in the company of other snowmobilers and a passerby as they attempted to help Olmstead, police said.
Members of the Gloversville Fire Department and GAVAC arrived and Olmstead was ultimately taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Police believe no other snowmobiles or vehicles were involved in the accident. The accident remained under investigation Wednesday.
