Gloversville man charged in St. Johnsville gun thefts, sales, troopers say

ST. JOHNSVILLE – A Gloversville man has been charged in connection with the theft of multiple guns in St. Johnsville in November and subsequent sale of the weapons, New York State Police said.

Damon Brooks, 40, of Gloversville, was arrested last week and charged with first-degree criminal sale of a firearm and fourth-degree grand larceny, felonies, police said.

The investigation began in November as troopers responded to reports of a firearm theft from a home in St. Johnsville, police said.

Troopers then worked with St. Johnsville Police and determined Brooks stole the weapons and then sold them unlawfully, police said.

Brooks was arrested with the help of the Gloversville Police Department, arraigned and ordered held on $5,000 bail, police said.
