HIGH SCHOOLS – Broadalbin-Perth’s Rylee Van Alstine, Fonda-Fultonville’s Bennett Melita and Gloversville’s Zoie Tesi were standout performers on Saturday at the 80th William F. Eddy Track and Field Meet at Schenectady High School, all taking home individual victories.
Van Alstine won the boys’ 400-meter dash in 48.99 seconds, breaking the Broadalbin-Perth school record and beating runner-up Brandon Gordon of Colonie by more than two seconds.
Tesi secured two podium finishes, winning the girls’ high jump by clearing the bar at 5 feet, 4 inches, and finishing second in the triple jump with a leap of 36 feet, 11.25 inches — less than an inch off the winning mark of 37 feet, 0 inches hit by Shenendehowa’s Gianna Minehardt.
Melita won the boys’ 3,200 run in 9:42.48, nearly 14 seconds faster than runner-up Colin Brunelle of Averill Park.
