TOWN OF FLORIDA — One victim was airlifted to Albany Medical Center after suffering serious injuries from a motor vehicle crash in the town of Florida on Wednesday, according to Montgomery County Sheriff Jeffery Smith.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash on Route 161 between Route 30 and Fort Hunter Road that was reported at 8:43 p.m.
Smith declined to provide more specific details regarding the individuals or types of vehicles involved in the incident that remains under investigation.
“It’s important we do a thorough job and get all the details,” Smith said Thursday.
Neither the road itself nor the surrounding intersections played a role in the collision, according to Smith.
The road was closed for an extended period immediately following the crash to allow the scene to be investigated and cleaned up. The road was reportedly reopened around 5 a.m.
Smith said additional details regarding the crash will be released when the investigation is complete.
