CANAJOHARIE – A Canajoharie man has been arrested, accused of predatory sexual assault against a child, New York State Police said Wednesday.
Timothy Sanders, 55, of Canajoharie, was arrested Monday and charged with predatory sexual assault against a child and first-degree criminal sexual act, felonies.
If convicted of the predatory sexual assault charge, Sanders would face up to 25 years to life in prison.
The investigation into Sanders began in June 2022 as troopers received information about a possible past sexual assault of a child in Canajoharie, police said.
The investigation determined Sanders reportedly sexually assaulted a child between 2009 and 2019. The child was under the age of 11 when the abuse began, police said.
Sanders was arraigned and ordered held without bail.
