GLOVERSVILLE – A Gloversville man previously charged with child pornography possession has now been charged with criminal sexual act involving a child, New York State Police said.

Derrick C. Phillips Jr., 31, of Gloversville, was charged Friday with one count of first-degree criminal sexual act, a felony.

Phillips was earlier charged in December with possession of a sexual performance by a child, a felony, accused of possessing child pornography, police said.

Subsequent to that investigation, investigators discovered Phillips had sexual contact with a child under the age of 11, police said.

Phillips was arraigned and ordered held on $50,000 bail.
