CLIFTON PARK — Broadalbin-Perth’s Rylee VanAlstine won the Division 2 boys’ 400-meter dash at the Section 2 Track and Field State Qualifier on Thursday at Shenendehowa.
VanAlstine won with a time of 48.91 seconds, qualifying him for the state meet next on June 9-10 at Middletown High School.
His teammate, Hunter O’Dell, placed second in the Division 2 boys’ triple jump with a leap of 43 feet, 0.50 inches. The area’s other second-place finish came from Fonda-Fultonville’s Michael Carpenter in the Division 2 boys’ pole vault, at 12-0.
Broadalbin-Perth’s Connor Couperus was third in the Division 2 boys’ 800 (2:03.34), while Fonda-Fultonville’s Bennett Melita took third in the Division 2 boys’ 3,200 (10:13.90).
