TOWN OF AMSTERDAM – Four Montgomery County men worked together to steal more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from the town of Amsterdam Lowes, New York State Police said.

Charged were Robert W. Howland, 46, of Amsterdam, Travis Smith, 49, of Amsterdam, Ronald R. Washington, 39, of Fultonville, and Brandon Willis, 31, of Fultonville, police said. Each face charges of fourth-degree grand larceny and fifth-degree conspiracy, police said.

The investigation began Monday as troopers responded to the Lowes for a report of a past theft. The investigation determined that the four entered the store Aug. 25 and worked together to steal the merchandise, police said. They then left in the same vehicle, police said.

The four were processed and released to appear in court later.
