PETS FUR ADOPTION — Looking for a shy and snuggly cat or a ball-of-energy dog? Meet some of the Capital Region’s most precious pets looking for their fur-ever homes!
Each week, Pets Fur Adoption will feature several cats, dogs and other animals available for adoption or foster at local shelters and rescues.

Gender and Breed: Female Pitbull mix
Age: 3 years old
Organization: Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, Sprakers
About: Coco has called Ayres home for 528 days. She’s ready for her new family to find her! Coco is good with some dogs (mostly males) and loves her people. She takes a little while to warm up, but once she does you get to see her goofy silly side. Coco rides well in the car and loves to go on adventures. She has waited a long time for a fur-ever home!

Name: Bubba
Gender & Breed: Male Domestic Shorthair
Age: 14.5 years old
Organization: Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Menands
About: Meet Bubba. This sweet older gent is looking for a place to stay during his twilight years. He came to us after allergies took over his former home. He has lived with other cats but he tends to keep to himself. He’s a quiet guy just looking for a nice place to call home.
Adoption Details: Bubba is up for adoption at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, open Monday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Society is quickly approaching overcapacity. In an attempt to combat this, adoption fees have been reduced to $100 for all animals younger than six months and $50 for all animals 6 months and older. Gender and Breed: Female Pitbull
Age: 9 years old
Organization: Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, Sprakers
About: Rosie has called Ayres home for over 400 days. Before that she was at another local shelter for months waiting for her owners to come for her — but they never did. Rosie loves her people and is good with most other dogs. She loves to ride in the car and would love to learn all about snuggling on the couch. Rosie deserves to live out her golden years with a family that loves her.

Gender & Breed: Male Domestic Shorthair
Age: 3 years old
Organization: Montgomery County SPCA, Amsterdam
About: Simba is a friendly and affectionate boy who looks forward to a new fur-ever home. He was surrendered to the Montgomery County SPCA in early May when his owner sadly passed away. Simba likes playing with toys and getting a nice scratch behind the ears. He gets along with other cats and would love a buddy-cat to share his life and home. Simba deserves another chance to love and be loved.

Age: 5 years old
Organization: Homes For Orphaned Pets Exist, Saratoga Springs
About: Leonardo DiCatrio, or Leo for short, is a chonker of a boy who is ready to find his fur-ever home. He weighs 15 pounds and is very friendly. Leo loves rubbing all over your legs, though he is not a big lap cat… yet!
Leo would like to have a female kitty friend or a calm male kitty friend. It is unclear how he would enjoy being with dogs as he has never met one.

Gender & Breed: Male Pitbull mix
Age: 6 years old
Organization: Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Menands
About: Klaus is a bundle of love who only chews bones, is house trained and will greet you at the door with a full body wag from head to tail. He loves nothing more than a belly rub, to lean against you while you scratch my neck or to look out the window and watch the world go by.
Klaus gets overly excited when he sees other dogs, so he should be in a home that does not have other pets. He is also part of the Hidden Gems program, meaning he has been at the shelter for over 100 days.

Age: 4 years old
Organization: Animal Protective Foundation, Glenville
About: Violet is the best girl. She is often found playing with her stuffed box or bobbing for tennis balls in the pool. She has a fun personality and is social but also has her moments where she is very independent and will do her own thing, coming back every once in a while to check in with you.
Violet loves all her friends at APF but will need to go to an only-pet home.

Gender & Breed: Female Beagle
Age: 9 months old

About: Maddie is a super sweet puppy. Being that she is a beagle, she does have a strong beagle bark. Maddie can be nervous with new people at first, but if she has canine role models to show her that people are okay, she will be fine. She is a sweetheart once she is comfortable. She is a very curious girl and will try to get into things if given the opportunity.
Maddie does enjoy the company of her people so she would do best in a home where she is not left alone for extended periods of time. She will also need a fenced-in yard since she is so curious.

About: Dirk is a great medium sized guy that is ready for his forever family!
He loves kids, is good with cats and some other dogs. Dirk rides well in the car and loves to meet new people. He is only about 30 pounds and would make the perfect adventure buddy.
