Man charged under Leandra’s Law

GLEN — On Saturday, June 10, the New York State Police based in Fonda arrested 31 year old Bryan Dresser of Canajoharie for felony aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law.

At approximately 7:10 p.m., the trooper was dispatched to a call about an erratic vehicle complaint by Montgomery County Sheriff’s dispatch. Patrolling westbound on Route 5S from Fultonville, the trooper observed the vehicle and performed a traffic stop. Police said Dresser admitted to the trooper that he was drunk and that he shouldn’t be driving. The trooper observed a young child passenger within the vehicle.

Dresser performed a standardized field sobriety test, which he subsequently failed, police said. While at the state police barracks in Fonda, Dresser submitted to a breath test which yielded a 0.20 percent blood-alcohol content.

Dresser was charged with felony-level aggravated DWI with a previous DWI conviction within the preceeding 10 years.

He was arraigned in the town of Glen court and remanded to Montgomery County Correction Facility pending bail.

DWI, Leandra’s Law charged

FONDA — On Sunday, the New York State Police in Fonda arrested 31 year old Michael Lewis of Caroga for felony-level aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law.

At approximately 1:55 p.m., the trooper was on Route 5 and observed a black Dodge Dakota being operated with an inadequate exhaust. The operator of the Dakota had pulled in to the Mobil gas station when the trooper had initiated a traffic stop. During the interview with driver Michael Lewis, the trooper observed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and that Lewis had glossy eyes. Inside the Dakota, the trooper observed a 13-year-old child passenger.

Lewis was requested to perform standardized field sobriety tests which he subsequently failed, police said. and he was transported to the state police barracks at Fonda. He submitted to a breath test which yielded 0.10 percent blood-alcohol content. The child was turned over to its mother and Lewis was released to a sober third party pending his court appearance.
