Man charged with criminal contempt

JOHNSTOWN — Paul J. Roy, 51, of 13 Jay St., Gloversville, was charged by Fulton County sheriff’s deputies Saturday with second-degree criminal contempt.

Deputies said he was charged at 7:30 p.m. at his residence for allegedly violating a stay-away order of protection.

Roy will appear later in Town Court.

Woman charged with welfare fraud

JOHNSTOWN — Stacy J. Rowback, 39, of 116 Fremont St., Gloversville, was charged by Fulton County sheriff’s investigators at 2:06 p.m. Sept. 6 with misdemeanor counts of misuse of food stamps and petit larceny.

Deputies said she allegedly used the EBT Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program card of another and obtained welfare benefits she wasn’t entitled to.

Rowback will appear later in City Court.

Police surround home, man surrenders

AMSTERDAM — Edwin Padilla, 49, of 14 Kline St., Amsterdam, was arrested by the Amsterdam Police Department on Friday for criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Police said that after an investigation into the sales and possession of controlled substances, an Amsterdam detective noticed Padilla enter a residence at 21 Kline St. and officers surrounded the residence. After a short period of time, police said Padilla came out of the residence and surrendered himself on a warrant signed by Judge Lisa Lorman from Amsterdam City Court.

Padilla was processed and arraigned in front of Judge Lorman where he was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

The New York state Police CNET team and District Attorney Kelli McCoski assisted with the investigation.

Man charged with trespass, petit larceny

AMSTERDAM — State Police based in Fonda arrested an Amsterdam man for multiple charges following a complaint at the Price Chopper in the town of Amsterdam on Saturday.

Troopers charged Anthony J. Reyes with two counts of petit larceny, and one count of criminal trespass after Reyes was allegedly observed shoplifting at the store.

Reyes was processed on the charges and is to return to the Town of Amsterdam Court at a later date.

Man charged with marijuana possession

AMSTERDAM — An unidentified 18-year-old male from Gloversville was charged by state police on Tuesday with unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop.
