Man arrested on bench warrant

JOHNSTOWN — Blaine A. VanAvery, 18, of 1230 Route 30, Gloversville, was arrested by city police at 5:23 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant out of City Court.

He was held pending further action in that court.

No brake lights leads to pot charges

JOHNSTOWN — Keith T. Mattice, 23, of 253 Locust Ave., Amsterdam, was charged by city police at 10:30 p.m. Friday with unlawful possession of marijuana and insufficient brake light, both violations.

Police said he was charged on North Market Street after a vehicle stop.

Mattice will appear later in City Court.

Vehicle stop leads to unauthorized use

JOHNSTOWN — Charges E. Pierce Jr., 28, of 21 N. Perry St., was charged by city police at 8:25 p.m. Saturday with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and unauthorized lighting, a violation.

Police said he was charged after a vehicle stop on North Market Street.

He will appear later in City Court.

Driver charged with being unlicensed

JOHNSTOWN — Christopher P. Brockhum, 40, of 430 S. Main St., Gloversville, was charged by city police at 1:08 a.m. Saturday with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanor; and failure to keep right, a violation.

Police said he was charged after a vehicle stop on South Perry Street.

He will appear later in City Court.

Traffic stop results in drug, other charges

JOHNSTOWN — Luis E. Mendoza, 26, of 80 Homestead Place, New Rochelle, was charged by city police at 10 p.m. Sunday with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors; and insufficient brake light, a violation.

Police said he was charged on South Melcher Street after a vehicle stop.

He will appear later in Town Court.

Uninspected and unlicensed charged

JOHNSTOWN — Matthew J. Clizbe, 31, of 16 Grand St., Apartment 1, was charged by city police at 7:19 p.m. Sunday with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, and uninspected motor vehicle, a violation.

Police said he was charged while on a vehicle stop on Grand Street.

Clizbe will appear later in City Court.

Woman charged after fraud investigation

JOHNSTOWN — Sue M. Kathan, 59, of 267 Route 334, was charged by Fulton County sheriff’s investigators at 9:40 p.m. Thursday with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Investigators said she was charged following a welfare fraud case in the city. Kathan applied for and obtained emergency HEAP benefits of 200 gallons of home heating oil, when she heated her home with wood, investigators said.

She will appear later in City Court.
