Accident leads to warrant arrest
GLOVERSVILLE — Michael J. Pepper, 22, of 106 Byard St., Johnstown, was taken into custody by state police on an active bench warrant on April 18 at 1:02 a.m.
Pepper was taken into custody during a motor vehicle accident when state police learned he was the subject of an outstanding bench warrant issued in Gloversville City Court by Judge Traci DiMezza. The warrant stems from Pepper’s failure to appear on a charge of third-degree aggravated unauthorized operation of a motor vehicle.
Pepper was transported to the Gloversville Police Department where he was processed and held for arraignment.
Man arrested on active warrant
GLOVERSVILLE — James A. Wagoner, 19, of 23 Western Blvd., turned himself in to the Gloversville Police Department on an active arrest warrant on April 18.
The warrant for Wagoner was issued in Gloversville City Court by Judge Traci DiMezza on July 17, 2017, for his alleged use of a vehicle without the permission of the owner and subsequent involvement in a vehicle pursuit. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Wagoner was processed and held for arraignment.
Suspect flees cops, damages equipment
GLOVERSVILLE — Jacob E. Shelmandine, 31, of 22 E. Eighth Ave., was charged with a felony for third-degree criminal mischief, a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana and misdemeanors for resisting arrest and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance by city police on April 19.
Officers conducting a domestic violence investigation located Shelmandine walking on North Main Street. Upon interviewing Shelmandine, officers found he was in possession of marijuana and advised him that he would be arrested. Shelmandine then fled on foot.
After a brief pursuit on foot, Shelmandine was taken into custody, when officers allegedly found he was also in possession of two controlled substances. While in custody at the Gloversville Police Department, officers said Shelmandine struck and damaged city property rendering the instrument inoperable.
Shelmandine was held for arraignment in Gloversville City Court.
Man charged after being in stolen car
GLOVERSVILLE — Daniel P. Penley, 23, of 23 Prospect Ave., was charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property by city police on April 19.
Penley was taken into custody by city police following a stolen vehicle report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in the state of Florida. The vehicle was reported to be in the city. City police located the stolen vehicle that Penley was allegedly operating, taking him into custody.
Penley was held for arraignment in Gloversville City Court.
Man charged for open burn, mischief
DOLGEVILLE — Thomas E. Cool, 58, of 144 Van Buren St. Ext., Dolgeville was charged on Wednesday by Dolgeville police for fourth-degree criminal mischief and open burn.
Cool was issued an appearance ticket for town of Manheim Court at a later date.
