Arrest made for criminal possession
GLOVERSVILLE — Doren L. Westpoint, 49, of 108 Washington St., Apt. 5, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance by city police on Friday at 11:35 a.m.
Officers were dispatched to the area of North Main Street and Third Avenue for a suspicious person complaint. Upon arrival, police made contact with Westpoint who was found to be in possession of a quantity of heroin during the course of investigation.
Westpoint was transported to the station where he was processed and released on an appearance ticket returnable in City Court at a later date.
Teen charged on active bench warrant
GLOVERSVILLE — Justin L. Persen, 19, of 102 Lincoln St., was taken into custody on an active bench warrant by city police on Friday at 11:32 a.m.
The warrant for Persen was issued out of Amsterdam City Court. Persen was located at his residence by members of the Gloversville police who were investigating a separate incident.
Persen was turned over to the Amsterdam Police Department.
Criminal possession leads to man’s arrest
GLOVERSVILLE — Derek Kenney, 49, of 157 Handy Road, Mayfield, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance by city police on Saturday at 2:03 p.m.
Officers made contact with Kenney in a parking lot on Fremont Street near NBT Bank. During the course of an interview, Kenney was found to be in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine.
Kenney was taken into custody and transported to the station where he was processed and held for arraignment.
Area man charged with drunk driving
MAYFIELD — Christopher J. Howard, 27, of Mayfield, was charged with DWI by state police on Thursday at 5:45 p.m. He was taken into custody on School Street and released on an appearance ticket.
Traffic stop leads to aggravated DWI
BROADALBIN — Christin M. Gorka, 46, of Broadalbin, was charged with DWI and aggravated DWI by state police on Friday at 7:28 p.m. He was taken into custody on Union Mills Road and released on an appearance ticket.
One charged with criminal possession
AMSTERDAM — Shamel D. Ward, 27, of Schenectady, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana by state police on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Ward was taken into custody on Route 5. He was released on an appearance ticket.
Man gets DWI charge, unlicensed operation
PERTH — Matthew J. Fair, 38, of Esperance, was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and DWI by state police on Saturday at 8:55 p.m. Fair was taken into custody on Sacandaga Road. He was released on an appearance ticket.
