Local man picked up for drunk driving

JOHNSTOWN — Sean G. Hestie, 28, of 3600 Route 5, Fonda, was charged by city police at 2 a.m. Friday with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; and speed not reasonable and refusal of breath screening, both violations.

Police said Hestie was charged after Patrol Division members stopped his vehicle on South Comrie Avenue for a violation of the state Vehicle and Traffic Law. Upon interview and further investigation, he was allegedly found to be intoxicated, police said

Hestie was held for arraignment in City Court.

Bad checks lead to grand larceny charge

JOHNSTOWN — Maureen R. Eberle, 57, of 608 County Highway 123, Mayfield, was charged by city police at 2 p.m. Wednesday with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Police said she was charged in connection with an offense at 8 a.m. June 6. She was charged following an investigation by members of the Detective Division. The investigation showed Eberle allegedly issued two checks in the amount of $1,100 each on a closed account, police said.

The suspect will appear later in City Court.

Man arrested after stealing alcohol

JOHNSTOWN — Steven D. Starson, 61, of 44 E. Main St., was charged by city police at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Police said he was charged on West Main Street following a complaint made by Stewart’s of an offense at 5:50 p.m. Monday. Police said Starson was observed in the store stealing alcohol.

He will appear later in City Court,

Contempt, resisting arrest charges lodged

JOHNSTOWN —Dwayne J. Cross, 57, of 1 Susan Lane, Mayfield, was charged by city police at 11:46 a.m. July 25 with second-degree criminal contempt and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.

Police said he was charged at his residence in connection with an offense at 11 a.m. Police said Patrol Division officers investigated a possible order of protection violation. During the probe, it was learned Cross allegedly violated a valid order.

Police said Cross was located at his home and while officers attempted to place him under arrest, he became physically combative.

He was arraigned in City Court and held for further action.
