Former employee allegedly takes $95K

GLEN — On Aug. 12, the New York state State Police Financial Crimes Unit arrested 48-year-old Thomas M. Morgan of Kingsland, Ga., formerly of Gloversville, for one count of second-degree grand larceny.

According to a news release, on Jan. 25, State police investigators from the Special Investigations Unit Financial Crimes Unit, received a request for assistance from the city of Gloversville Police Department. Gloversville police received a complaint from Active & Well Family Chiropractic, that multiple patient insurance payments never made it into the company bank account.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Morgan, a former employee, had stolen approximately 828 checks over a three-year period totaling more than $95,000, cashing them at a local convenience store.

Morgan was processed at state police in Fonda and arraigned in Gloversville City Court.

He was released on $2,500 cash bail.

Two charged following fight

SAND ISLAND — Two men were arrested by Fulton County Sheriff’s deputies after a physical altercation on Sand Island of the Great Sacandaga Lake.

Robert J. Manzer, 34, of 2326 Route 67, Johnstown and Joseph P. Pugliese, 25, of 14 Lansing St., Hagaman were both arrested after police said they engaged in a fight around 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 3.

Manzer was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor and Pugliese was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation.

Both men were issued appearance tickets returnable to Broadalbin Town Court to appear at a later date and time.

Driver facing felony DWI charge

MAYFIELD — David A. Ellithorpe, 42, of Caroga was charged by state police on Friday with driving while intoxicated, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and having a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher.

Driver charged with drunk driving

AMSTERDAM — Timothy J. August, 30, of Johnstown was charged by state police on Sunday with felony having a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher and driving while intoxicated.

Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

MAYFIELD — Jacob A. Carey, 19, of Amsterdam, was charged by state police on Saturday with three counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle without owner’s consent.

Man charged with phoning threats

PALATINE — Emil A. Johnson, 53, of Fort Plain was charged by state police on Aug. 12 with two counts of second-degree aggravated harassment, threat by phone, for an incident which occurred in the town on July 2.

Johnson was arraigned and released in his own recognizance.
