Chicago Mattress partner arrested

GLOVERSVILLE — State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Fonda and Mayfield, after a five and a half month long investigation, arrested Jed W. Suits, 41, of Palatine Bridge, for third-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud.

Suits, acting as the manager of the Chicago Mattress and Recliner Centers Corp. on Harrison Street in the city of Gloversville, took money from customers and then failed to fulfill their orders.

He also allegedly took more than $3,000 from the business.

He was arraigned Monday in the City Court and remanded to the Fulton County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 secured bail bond.

Woman charged with fleeing police

STRATFORD — Dorothy C. Perkins, 57, of Avery Road, Stratford was charged by Dolgeville police with fleeing a police officer, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and numerous traffic violations on Tuesday.

Police said a traffic stop was initiated on Spencer Street in the village of Dolgeville and Perkins failed to stop. The pursuit lasted for approximately one-half hour on village streets, roads in the towns of Manheim, Salisbury and Stratford.

Police said Perkins turned off of Seeley Road in Stratford onto a snowmobile trail and was taken into custody when she could not drive any further in the woods.

Police said additional criminal charges are pending.

Perkins was arraigned in Manheim Town Court and remanded to Herkimer County Correctional facility on $10,000 cash bail of $20,000 bail bond.

She is scheduled to return to Town Court on Sept. 17.

Traffic violation leads to charges

PALATINE — Katherine Kilburn, 46, of 1 Pleasant Place, was charged by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, disobeying a traffic control device and failing to notify the department of motor vehicles of an address change.

During the traffic stop a DMV check confirmed that Kilburn’s driver’s license was suspended for failing to answer a prior traffic ticket from Palatine Town Court.

She was processed on scene and released with traffic ticket to appear in Palatine Town Court on Sept. 5.

Woman charged with grand larceny

CANAJOHARIE — Erica L. Brooks, 33, of Dolgeville was charged by state police on Friday with fourth-degree grand larceny for allegedly stealing property with a value less than $1,000 on Aug. 20 in the town of Canajoharie.

Driver facing felony drunk driving

AMSTERDAM — Jeffrey A. Teabout, 64, of Amsterdam was charged by state police with felony driving while intoxicated.
