Driver allegedly doing 101 mph in 55

MOHAWK — Jennifer L. Rivera, 18, of 33 Bunn St., Apt. A1, Amsterdam, was charged May 17 by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies with speeding 101 mph in a 55 mph; and reckless driving.

Deputies said she was charged after a traffic stop on Route 5 in the town of Mohawk. Deputies said her vehicle was observed allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed – confirmed by radar at 101 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Rivera will appear June 8 in Town Court.

Woman charged with Leandra’s Law

PALATINE — Brittany E. Field, 35, of 11 Prospect St., Nelliston, was charged by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies at 8:27 p.m. May 15 with: Driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law), a felony; consumption/open container alcohol in motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while using a portable electronic device, both infractions; and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Deputies said they were alerted to a complaint of a possible drunk driver and later located Field operating her vehicle while using her cell phone. A traffic stop was conducted and she was suspected to be allegedly intoxicated, deputies said. Field had a 13 year old juvenile in the vehicle at the time of arrest, so she was charged with aggravated DWI – commonly known as “Leandra’s Law,” deputies said.

She was virtually arraigned in Minden Town Court, and released. She was scheduled to appear in Palatine Town Court at 6 p.m. June 8.

Domestic fight leads to charges

CANAJOHARIE — Elmer E Horning Jr., 40, of 131 Old Fort Plain Road, Canajohaire, was charged by Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies on charges of second-degree unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor; second-degree harassment, a violation; third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor; second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor; third-degree intimidating a victim or witness, a felony; fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor; third-degree coercion, a misdemeanor; third-degree assault, a misdemeanor; and third-degree attempted assault, a misdemeanor.

Deputies said Horning was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant signed by Canajoharie Town Court. He was charged with the offenses stemming from a prior domestic incident.

Horning was arraigned in Minden Town Court and remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.

He will appear in Canajoharie Town Court at a later date.
