Season-high 205 entries compete in supercross competition at Royal Mountain

CAROGA LAKE – It was another successful week for area riders during supercross competition at Royal Mountain Ski Area on Wednesday.

For the second straight week, 10 area riders topped their respective classes.

A season-high total of 205 entries took part in the fourth supercross race of the season, which was a double-point event.

Johnstown’s Brandon Handy won both motos to claim the victory in the 122-250 expert class.

Canajoharie’s C.J. Renzi was third and first in his two 122-open novice motos to claim the overall win. He also was second and fourth in his 122-250 novice motos to claim the victory in that class.

Johnstown’s Brett Unser was second and first in his motos on his way to victory in the 122-125 two-stroke class. Unser also was second in the 122-250 amateur class.

Johnstown’s Hayden Zelich won the 122-open amateur class, picking up wins in both motos. He also was fourth in the 122-250 amateur class.

St. Johnsville’s Blaire Wilson won the mini quad 51-90cc class, sweeping both motos in the process.

Amsterdam’s Joey Vitalis won the pit bike mod class, while Johnstown’s Brandon Tyler won the pit bike stock class.

Fultonville’s Adam Dutcher won the plus-30 amateur class, Amsterdam’s Justin Richards won the quad amateur class, while Northville’s Joshua Bedell won the quad novice class.

In addition to Renzi, four other riders notched wins in multiple classes.

Clifton Park’s Gavin Betts won all four of his motos to win the 122-250 amateur and schoolboy classes.

Corinth’s Colton Tubbs won three of his four motos to notch wins in the 50cc open/E-bike 4-to-8-year-old and 50cc 4-to-6-year-old classes.

Selkirk’s Hudson Vagele won the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old and mini 80 9-to-11-year-old classes, while Johnsonville’s Brian Falzo won the 122-open expert and plus-30 expert classes

Other winners included East Berne’s Finn Smith (mini 60 7-11), Ilion’s Joey Melott (mini 80 12-15), Selkirk’s Henry Vagele (open mini 10-16), Brunswick’s Joe Falzo (plus-40 amateur), Yorkville’s Jamie Nimey (plus-50 open), Corinth’s Easton Morris (mini quad 50cc), East Berne’s Alissa Duncan (quad schoolboy/girl 12-16), Troy’s Brandie Yaggle (women 85-250cc) and Cole VanGorder (50cc/E-bike 7-8).

In addition to the multiple area winners, several other area riders posted top-five finishes in their respective classes.

In the 122-250 amateur class, Gloversville’s Anthony Attigliato was third, and Galway’s Trevor Patterson was fifth.
Johnstown’s Stephen Young was fifth in the 122-open novice class. Young also was fifth in the 122-250 novice class, while Fort Plain’s Cooper Reynolds was fourth.

Fonda’s Charles Rose was second in the 122-open amateur class, Johnstown’s Tom Hogan was fourth and Stratford’s Brett Hogan was fifth.

Nelliston’s Brandon Dygert finished fourth in the 122-125 two-stroke class, while Broadalbin’s Owen Marek was fifth in the schoolboy/girl class.

Gloversville’s Sal Attigliato Jr. was third in the 50cc/E-bike 4-to-8-year-old class, while Gloversville’s Ryder Graham was fifth. Attigliato also was second in the 50cc/E-bike 7-and-8-year-old class, while Graham was fourth.

St. Johnsville’s Burton Wilson IV was third in the 50cc 4-to-6-year-old class, while Amsterdam’s Maverick Manzer was fifth.

In the junior mini 9-to-11-year-old class, Johnstown’s Kip Simonds was third and Pattersonville’s Eason Baker was fifth. Baker also was third in the mini 80 9-to-11-year-old class.

Johnstown’s Sean Smith Jr. was second in the mini 60 7-to-11-year-old class, Johnstown’s Brennan Hart was third and Gloversville’s Wyatt Gliewe was fifth.

Johnstown’s Maxx Miller was second in the mini 80 12-to-15-year-old class. Miller also was fifth in the open mini 10-to-16-year-old class, while Galway’s Trevor Patterson was fourth.

In the pit bike stock class, Broadalbin’s Andrew Hughes was third, Broadalbin’s Grayson Guttenberg was fourth and Gloversville’s Shane Graham was fifth.

Johnstown’s Anderson Giardino was second in the mini quad 50cc class and Mayfield’s Zachary VanNostrand was fourth in the quad novice class.

Johnstown’s Ethan Cornell was third in the mini quad 51-90cc class, while Fultonville’s Ava Cary was fifth.

Mayfield’s Nick Cross was third in the plus-30 amateur class, while Pattersonville’s Mike Baker was fourth. Baker also was second in the plus-40 amateur class, while Johnstown’s Tom Hogan was fourth.

In the quad schoolboy/girl class, Amsterdam’s Mia Richards was second and Fultonville’s Kendra Cary was third.
Johnstown’s Michael Ward was second in the plus-30 expert class and second in the plus-50 open class.

Royal Mountain will be back in action next Wednesday with its weekly supercross event before hosting a two-day Central New York Motocross Riders Association District 3 event on July 2 and 3.
