Troopers: Broadalbin man charged with robbery in domestic dispute

BROADALBIN – A Broadalbin has been arrested on a felony robbery count in connection with a July domestic dispute, state police said.

Stephen M. Allen, 34, of Broadalbin, was arrested on one count of third-degree robbery, a felony, along with one misdemeanor count each of criminal obstruction of breathing and criminal mischief, state police said.

Allen is accused of breaking the victim’s laptop and choking the person during a dispute July 17. Troopers had responded there for a report of a domestic dispute, state police said.

Allen is also accused of forcibly taking the victim’s cell phone and then leaving the residence with it, state police said.

Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Allen and took him into custody Friday morning at his residence, state police said.

Allen was arraigned and ordered held without bail.
