GLOVERSVILLE - The body found this week in Gloversville has been identified as that of a Johnstown man missing since last summer, Gloversville Police said Thursday.
Police identified the body as that of James E. Anderson, Sr., 48, of the town of Johnstown.
He had been the subject of an active missing person's investigation since last summer.
The cause of the man's death, however, remained undetermined and the circumstances surrounding his death remained under investigation.
Anderson's body was discovered at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cayadutta Creek, officials said.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Det. Lt. Luke Nellis at 518-773-4577.
Anderson was last seen on Old Peck Hill Road on Aug. 1 in the town of Johnstown, officials have said. After an argument at his mother’s house in the Gloversville area, he borrowed a vehicle from a local woman and returned it with an empty tank of gas.
Old Peck Hill Road is a minimum of just under three miles from the area where his body was found.
The 6-foot-3, 135-pound man known as “Jimbob” was wearing a green camo shirt at the time.
The portion of River Street near South Main Street, which had been closed for the investigation, has now reopened, police said.
The portion of Beaver Street near the brush dump, as well as the dump itself, has also now reopened, officials said.
The Gloversville Police Department has been assisted by the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, Fulton County District Attorney's Office, Fulton County Emergency Management, the Fulton County Coroner's Office, the Johnstown Police Department and the New York State Police.
