Wells Seniors plan auction

WELLS – The following are the Wells Seniors events.

In 2012: On Dec. 4, a group took a trip to Lancaster and Hershey, Pa. and stayed at the Hershey Inn. Among other attractions, they saw “Jonah” at the Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre. On Dec. 11, the annual Christmas party took place at the Timeless Tavern, Northville; 44 seniors attended. They sang Christmas carols and handed out Christmas card envelopes. Christine Lancaster made sure there were plenty of door prizes. Santa (Roy Grisenthwaite) posed for photos and handed out the gifts. The group played The Price Is Right game. For the party favor, everyone received two packages of hot chocolate wrapped up in a holiday message. On Dec. 20, the seniors were entertained by the children of the Wells Central School morning program, who gave a musical presentation. A ham dinner followed which was prepared by Kelly Brenan, manager of the Wells Nutrition site, and assistant, Denise Waldron. Each senior received a card and home baked bread. The seniors presented Brenan and Waldron with a monetary Christmas gift.

On Wednesday, the first meeting of the year took place. The nominations, which were made at the November meeting for Senior of the Year 2013 and Contributing Senior, were announced. President Alice Megargle noted the board is looking over the bylaws and asked all members to look them over as well and let her know if anyone has an opinion about any change. The changes will be presented at the annual meeting in June. Brenan, the guest speaker, informed the group about the beginning of the meals program and its operation.

On Jan. 23, the seniors will have a chinese auction. The meetings are held at the Wells Mealsite at 12:45 p.m. All Wells seniors are invited to join the group.
