GLOVERSVILLE – The Getman Home Board of Managers meeting Sept. 5 was called to order by President Jan Lander, who opened with “The Lord’s Prayer” and a moment of silence in memory of Ernestine Vetro.
Ellen Funke, secretary, and Joan Clapper, treasurer, read their reports, which were accepted as read.
The various committees gave their reports.
In July: The birthday of Jean Nicolella was celebrated with a dinner of her choice. The residents and their families had a Fourth of July picnic outside on the lawn. The residents went to Lanzi’s on the Lake for their monthly luncheon with transportation provided by the board members. The weekly church services were provided for the residents by various clergy. The entertainment for the month was provided by Fran and Frank, therapy dog with Kyra and Kyla, Jeff Gonzalez, Jeff Erwin and Amy and John. The garden committee did the porch boxes, urn and garden with geraniums donated by Chrissy’s in Amsterdam and mulch donated by Curtis Lumber.
In August: The birthday of Beverly Gifford was celebrated with a dinner of her choice. The residents went to the Office for Aging picnic at the Concordia Club and to the Winner’s Circle for their monthly luncheon with transportation provided by the board members. The entertainment for the month was provided by Connie on the piano, Raymond Langley on the guitar and singing. Jeff Erwin on the piano and music with W. Mike Bosse. The board of managers also held its first ice cream social and vendors, with live music by the Silvertones on the front lawn.
During July and August, the residents participated in various activities and had their monthly wine and cheese party. A new 64-inch TV was purchased in June for the residents.
Under old business, Rosemary Langley was welcomed as a new board member and Lander gave a report on the results of the ice cream social.
Under new business, the monthly luncheon will be Sept. 25. It was brought up to change the seating at the June picnic and the Christmas party from now on. A resignation from the board was read from Lynn Harrington.
