Perth seniors plan two summer trips

PERTH — The regular meeting of the Perth Seniors was held April 25. The meeting was opened by President Anita Bush. Dotty Richeson, read a poem, “Every Morning,” led in “The Lord’s Prayer” and in the Pledge of Allegiance.

There were 28 in attendance.

The 50-50 was won by Martha DePasquale.

The birthdays were announced by Bush.

The secretary’s report was given by Rose Matthews. The treasurer’s report was given by Mary Stacknik. Both reports were accepted.

The other reports given are as follows: The kitchen report by Wanda Crosbie; membership report by Sylvia Zierak; and sunshine report by Fran Smith.

The special events were given by Audrey Flint and Ginny Stahl. The next event on May 9, is for Mother’s Day.

The trip chairman, Carl Haff, stated the following are two trips scheduled.

∫ June 13: The Beeches for the “Voices of Legends” show — one man will impersonate various singers. The cost is $47 for the lunch and show. The price includes a buffet lunch and also for bus driver. The cut-off date is June 1. The seats are limited. The bus will leave the center and return around 5 p.m.

∫ Aug. 2: The Holiday Inn Dinner Theater, Lake George, Warren County, for a comedy, “Jerry Finnegan’s Sister” and a luncheon. The cost of the trip is $57 including tip for bus driver. The cut-off date is July 25. The bus will leave the center at 10 a.m. and return around 5 p.m. There will be an ice cream stop in Ballston Spa, Saratoga County. The lunch choices are as follows: Medallion of beef with apple bordelaise sauce or seared roasted pork tender loin medallions with maple honey demi glaze or broiled Atlantic salmon with lemon dill hollandaise or vegetarian lasagna. All served with salad, rolls, roasted red potatoes, vegetables, dessert, coffee and hot tea. To sign up call Haff, chairman, at (518) 627-4117.

Old business: discussions took place about having a garage sale or bake sale on election day.

New business: Oct. 4, will be next trip meeting at Office for the Aging. A representative from Avon will be at the May 2, meeting.

Peter Betz, liaison, gave the reports of the town and assessor and finished with the jokes.
