Summer picnic slated for July 25

BROADALBIN — The Broadalbin Senior Citizens met on July 11, at the First Presbyterian Church, with 51 members present. There were three guests who were welcomed.

The prayer was offered by Chaplain Marsha Prokop and June Zea led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. After lunch the meeting was called to order by President Toni Hallenbeck. Zea, vice president, did the roll call.

Nancy Weiss, secretary, gave the report and read two thank you notes to the group. In the treasure’s absence, Hallenbeck read the report. Prokop stated she sent out two sympathy cards. The birthdays for the month of July were read by Marilyn Quinn.

Judy Rosenzweig, program chairwoman, announced the seniors will be having an un-birthday party on Aug. 8, with make-your-own sundaes and an action. Each member is asked to bring a new wrapped gift in the amount of $10 to be auctioned off.

Phyllis Kluska, summer picnic committee chairwoman, noted the summer picnic will be at noon July 25, at the American Legion Pavillon. Those who have not signed up and plan to attend must contact Kluska.

Carol Britton, Christmas committee, noted the Christmas party will be from noon to 3 p.m. Dec. 6, at the Perthshire’s bridge walk.

Hallenbeck talked to the group about being aware of the many scams going around.

The donations were collected for the Broadalbin ecumenical church food pantry.

The 50-50 winner was Sunae Bleyl.

The next meeting will be Aug. 8, at the First Presbyterian Church.

The trip committee announced the following2019 trips.

March 22 to April 1: Ultimate Caribbean with Celebrity Cruises on the Celebrity Reflection. The stops will include St. John’s, Antigua, Bridgetown, Barbados, Castries, St. Lucia, Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis and Phillipsburg, St. Maarten.

Nov. 2 to 11: Sicilia featuring Palermo, Siracusa and Taormina.
