Colonie Center trip slated for Nov. 14

TRIBES HILL — The Tribes Hill Iroquois Seniors began their Thursday, meeting at 10 a.m. with a social hour hosted by Tony and Emily Scott and Lu Wilmot.

Chaplain Barbara Furman opened the meeting with a prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a reading entitled “So Little Time.”

The roll was taken by Vice President Pam Jasewicz with 27 members plus one guest present.

President Sherry Meyers announced the September birthdays: Anita Bush was Thursday; Joel Szabo was Friday; Tony Scott, Tuesday; Donna Deay, Friday. Anniversaries, Beverly and Dennis Speri, Saturday; and Donna and Ron Deay, Sunday.

The minutes were read by the Barb Minch, secretary, from the Sept. 5, meeting and were approved.

The treasurers report was read by Barb Lampkin, treasurer, and will be filed for audit.

Furman reported that the Office for the Aging is having a free breakfast at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 17, at the Rolling Hills Country Club for all seniors age 60 and over.

Trip: Lampkin reported the next trip is Nov. 14, to the Colonie Center for shopping and lunch at the Cracker Barrel. The signups will start next week. Wilmot stated the payment has ended for the Dutch Apple Cruise trip on Oct. 9.

Sunshine: A sympathy card was sent to a member and cards will be sent to two other members.

Social: The installation banquet is scheduled for Oct. 17. Checkers Out will cater it in the church hall and set up everything. Lampkin, Cheryl Meyers and Bill Danelorich volunteered to bring in desserts. The cost is $10 per member and signups have started.

Unfinished business: The slate of prospective officer for next year was read as follows: Cheryl Meyers, president; Jasewicz, vice president; Lampkin, treasurer; Donna Deay, secretary; Furman, chaplain; and Katherine Downing and Minch, trustees.

The 50-25-25 raffle winners were Minch and Donna Deay.

Lampkin and Jasewicz had some funny readings.

Furman brought in a flower vase made of wood for Show and Tell and also three crocheted blankets that she made.

The meeting adjourned.

Anyone who is looking for something to do on a Thursday morning from 10 a.m. to noon and wants to meet new people, feel free to come to one of the meetings. The group meets at 10 a.m. every Thursday at the Sacred Heart Church, Third Street, Tribes Hill. They are always looking for new members.
