St. Patrick’s Day dinner on March 17

MAYFIELD — The Bannertown 50 Plus Seniors had their regular meeting on Jan. 29. The seniors started out their day with speakers from both the National Grid and the Office for the Aging.

Lisa Wemple, Ann O’Connell and Tom Wynn from the National Grid discussed the Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program. There is a consumer advocate that can be called for help. Call (518) 736-5600 for help with any questions for seniors.

Becky White, who is retiring from the OFA, introduced Laura Sturgass and Hollie Saltsman as new members of the OFA team and replacing White.

Chaplain Evie Leach read the devotion, “The Lord gives us new ideas and opportunities.”

The meeting was called to order by Nancy Hayes, acting president. She did the roll call.

Ann Mallin had sent out one get well card.

There was no secretary’s report.

Joan Bezio, treasurer, gave the treasury report and it was accepted.

It was agreed to accept the price of the St. Patrick’s Day dinner for $20 at the Amsterdam Diner on March 17.

At the next meeting on Wednesday, the cookie committee will be Kathy Leggerio and Lorrie Valk. There will be a red auction held.

The meeting adjourned. The drawings were held. The winners were Carol Abraham, the door prize; and Dennis Murphy, the 50-50.
