Johnstown man charged with assault

BENSON — On Tuesday, the New York State Police in Mayfield arrested 40-year-old Paul R. Lawton of Johnstown, for second-degree assault, a class D felony, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, a class A misdemeanor, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor.

State police received a report of a domestic dispute in Benson Lawton is accused of using an object to strike the victim, refusing to allow them to leave, and destroying their phone when they attempted to call for help.

Lawton was taken into custody at the residence and transported to state police barracks in Mayfield for processing. He was arraigned in Wells Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on June 16 at 6 p.m.

Driving facing DWI charge

AMSTERDAM — Belinda S. Bullard, 48, of Fonda was charged by state police on Tuesday with driving while intoxicated, first offense.

She was released to a third-party.

Driving while intoxicated charged

BROADALBIN — Brian D. Sanford, 53, of Broadalbin was charged by state police on Tuesday with driving while intoxicated, first offense.

Teen charged with assault

BROADALBIN — A 15-year-old male from Broadalbin was charged by state police on Wednesday with third-degree assault for an incident which occurred in Broadalbin on May 5.

Accident leads to stolen property charge

MOHAWK — Tiffany N. Morris, 21, of Johnstown was charged by state police on Thursday with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property following an accident in Mohawk on May 16.
