Two charged with burglary

QUEENSBURY — On Friday, the New York State Police in Queensbury arrested 38-year-old Matthew R. Hayner of Gloversville and 27-year-old Shane R. Smykla of Mayfield, for second-degree burglary, a class C felony.

Troopers said that shortly before 3 p.m. on Friday, state police responded to Casanova’s Cove in Lake George for a report of a burglary. Hayner and Smykla are accused of forcing entry into the victim’s motel room and taking their property.

The victim, who was not in their room at the time, returned to find the two men. Smykla fled the scene prior to the arrival of police but returned a short time later and was taken into custody. Hayner was also taken into custody at the scene.

Both men were processed at state police barracks in Queensbury and transported to Warren County Centralized Arraignment Part.

Felony criminal contempt charged

PERTH — Levi B. Cabral, 22, of Perth was charged by state police on Monday with aggravated criminal contempt, a class D felony for an incident which occurred in the town of Perth on April 24.

Cabral was arraigned and released in his own recognizance.
