John A. Pawlowski

Mr. John A. Pawlowski, age 76, of Mayfield, died Monday evening, January 21, 2013, at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born April 1, 1936, in Amsterdam, the son of the late John and Mary Szwedo Pawlowski. He graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School and later served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1960.

John was employed by General Electric Company in Schenectady for many years, retiring as a foreman. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Gloversville and the Mayfield Servicemen’s Club. He was active in local politics and was a member of the Fulton County Board of Elections. John was a devoted husband, father and Dziadziu who enjoyed surrounding himself with the company of his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was married to Sandra L. Goodbread on April 23, 1960. She died just recently on January 12, 2013.

Survivors include: two children, Matthew Pawlowski (Traci) of Sioux City, Iowa and Michele Krohn (Brian) of Perth; four grandchildren, Justin Pawlowski (Stephanie), Koty Garrison-Pawlowski, Aaron Garrison and Amanda Pawlowski; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Pawlowski and Anna Pawlowski; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 28, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. Interment will take place at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38103 or the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
