Mr. Kenneth R. Burton, age 71, of Mayfield, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville, following a long illness.
He was born March 10, 1941, in Saratoga Springs, the son of the late Lial and Madeline Madison Burton. He was a self-employed house painter and worked at Coleco Industries in Gloversville as a fork lift operator.
Kenneth loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed country music and dancing.
He is survived by: his wife, Kathryn Hanmer Burton, whom he married on October 10, 1961; six children, Kenneth W. Burton, William R. Burton and Theresa K. Burton, all of Mayfield, Tina M. Slaybaugh (Jeff) of Broadalbin, Tonya E. Waschak of Mayfield and Lisa A. Burton of Johnstown; several brothers and sisters; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was predeceased by two sons, infant Kenneth Elliot Burton and Lyle Elliot Burton and several brothers and sisters.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, January 11, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Richard C. Klueg officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
