Marie C. Gutowski

Marie C. Gutowski, 91, of North Ferry Street, Schenectady, died Thursday, January 3, 2013, at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center.

Mrs. Gutowski was born in Gloversville to the late Carlo and Adelaide Stacchetti Locatelli.

She moved to Schenectady in 1972. Mrs. Gutowski worked in different parts of the country, including Connecticut and California. One of her government jobs required top FBI security clearance. She was well known in the leather industry in Fulton County and had many friends within the industry. She was employed by Wood & Hyde and later by Johnstown Tanning as personal assistant to Dr. Henry Rose, a renowned chemist at the time.

Mrs. Gutowski was a communicant of the former Holy Cross Church in Schenectady.

Mrs. Gutowski was predeceased by: her husband, Kasimer Gutowski, who died in 1981; five brothers, Jack, Anthony, Leno, Carl and John Locatelli; one sister, Caroline Davis. She is survived by: one brother, Mario Locatelli of Gloversville; and one sister, Rose Grandy of Johnstown. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral, which will begin Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 730 Union Street, Schenectady and at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church where the Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours for family members will be Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Schenectady.
