Rose M. VanEtten

Mrs. Rose M. VanEtten, age 63, of Gloversville, died at her home on Saturday, January 12, 2013.

She was born April 13, 1949, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Richard and Dorothy Page Courtney. She resided in Speculator until age 10 and then came to Johnstown and attended Johnstown schools. She worked at the Johnstown Knitting Mill and at the Lexington workshop on North Perry Street. After retirement she stayed at home raising her two boys, doing crafts and raising birds.

Rose was predeceased by four brothers and a sister.

She is survived by: two sons, Scott VanEtten and Donald VanEtten; a brother, Daniel “Dickie” Courtney; a sister, Lillian M. Barr; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Tomlinson; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. Interment will take place in the spring at Fish Mountain Cemetery, Lake Pleasant. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
