Darrell B. Henry

Mr. Darrell B. Henry, 59, of Fort Plain, formerly of Johnstown, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam following a long illness.

He was born on January 23,1954, in Gloversville, a son of the late Harold and Beverly (Wager) Henry. He was raised on Clinton Street in Johnstown with his fourteen brothers and sisters and had left Johnstown for California, returning to the area in 1991.

Darrell proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1973 until his honorable discharge in 1977.

He had worked for the Spray Nine Corporation in Johnstown and had worked as a custodian for the Johnstown School District at the Glebe Street Elementary School.

Darrell was a pet lover and had a special fondness for his dog, Onyx and for Bingo, who passed away.

Mr. Henry was a past charter member of Johnstown Area Vol. Ambulance Corps. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 472 in Johnstown.

Darrell was married to Tirzah Hale Henry, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Diana Henry of Northville and Philam Henry of California; two stepchildren, Isaac Mykel and Brianna Siegenthaler, both of Fort Plain; fourteen brothers and sisters, Richard (Rose) Henry of California, David (Janet) Henry of South Dakota, Linda (Rick) Rendo of Morris, Sandra (Nunzio) Wasson of Johnstown, Beverly (Lauren) Gillespie of Meco, Gary (Julie) Henry of Ephratah, Dale (Patricia) Henry of Johnstown, Daniel (Mary Ellen) Henry of Johnstown, Deborah (Robert) Blayzor of Northville, Pamela (Harold) Bell of Gloversville, Mark (Dawn) Henry of Rockwood, Hope Henry of Johnstown, Robert (Arnette) Henry of Johnstown and Janet Henry of Johnstown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, with full military honors.
