Mary Sue Gill Johnson of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., passed away February 23, 2013, at Mary’s Haven, Saratoga Springs.
She was born February 11, 1933, to Nellie Kubric Gill and Frederic J. Gill of Gloversville, N.Y.
Mary Sue was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Stanley A. Johnson Sr. in 2009. She and Stan resided in Gloversville, Schenectady, Saratoga Lake, Hadley and Saratoga Springs.
She is survived by: four sons, Stanley Jr. of Amsterdam, Thomas of Richmond of California and Michael and Joseph of Schenectady; four grandchildren, Hartford and Parker Johnson of Berkeley, Calif., Michael R. Johnson of Scotia and Christopher Johnson of Fonda; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Andree Moore, Pam Gill and Nella Ponazecki.
Mary Sue was a volunteer at Mary’s Haven in Saratoga Springs. She attended Gloversville High School, St. Mary’s Institute, Amsterdam and St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Yonkers, N.Y. She worked at Lebanon Hospital, Bronx, N.Y., Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville for 15 years and Ellis Hospital, Schenectady for 18 years, retiring in 1997.
She enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday, February 28, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a prayer service will follow at 11:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at noon at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St., Gloversville. Interment will take place in the spring at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield.
