Ruth Carrie Bever, 91, of River Ridge Living Center, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2013, after a brief illness. She was of the Protestant faith, who attended the Florida Reformed Church, Minaville, N.Y.
Born February 12, 1921, in Cobleskill, N.Y., to the late Joseph and Carrie E. Stanton Hollenbeck, Ruth was a lifelong area resident. On June 14, 1941, she married her husband, Warren H. Bever, who predeceased her on April 1, 1993. They spent most of their lives as dairy farmers on Youngs Corners Road.
Ruth loved to spend time at her home baking pies and spent most of her life as a homemaker on the family farm. The family had the farm for 56 years. She was always fond of animals and especially her cat, Lacey. Ruth enjoyed gardening in her flower beds. In the evening Ruth would watch bowling and wrestling.
Ruth loved people, especially her family and close friends. They were her pride and joy and would do anything she could to love and take care for them. She will be greatly missed by not only her family, but all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Warren R. Bever (Kathy) of town of Florida and Wayne D. Bever of Clifton Park, who lost his wife, Carol in the year 2000; sister, Margie Jones of Cobleskill. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Ruth was predeceased by not only her husband and parents, but also her brothers, Joseph A. Hollenbeck Jr. and Robert Hollenbeck; her sisters, Beatrice Garber, Elizabeth Falzarano and Shirley Keller.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, February 11, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Betz Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010. The Reverend Timothy Alicki of Florida Reformed Church, will be presiding over all services. The family invites relatives and friends to attend a calling period from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home before the service. A spring interment will take place at Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie, N.Y.
