James Wilkins

James Wilkins passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013. He was born February 10, 1940, in Gloversville, the son of W. Nelson and Hermosa Wilkins.

A graduate of Mayfield Central School, Jim spent most of his life in Gloversville. He is a graduate of Union College in Barbourville, Ky., with a degree in business, and served in the Air National Guard. He worked as a district manager for General Cable Corp. in Denver and retired early due to ill health.

Jim’s quick wit and ready smile made many good friends in all walks of his life. He enjoyed traveling, reading, dancing and sports of all kinds, especially attending the games at Mayfield Central School.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Kamille C. Brody of Broadalbin; and his son, William N. Wilkins of Gloversville; their mother, Margaret Wilkins of Broadalbin; and beloved granddaughter, Tesa Jane Brody of Broadalbin. Also surviving is his sister, Hannah Voigt of Chicago; stepchildren, Pamela Colosanti of Gloversville, Melissa Nicosia of Broadalbin and David Putman of Lake Placid; nieces, nephews, stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren.

By Jim’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. After cremation, burial will be at the Mayfield Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A gathering for family and friends will be held in the spring at a time to be announced.
