Lois J. Rumrill

Mrs. Lois J. Rumrill died February 26, 2013, at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home. She was born January 31, 1920, in St. Johnsville N.Y., the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Snell Glenar. Mrs. Rumrill graduated from St. Johnsville High School in 1937 and attended the State University of New York at Albany for two years, receiving her elementary education teaching certificate from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 1941. She came to the Gloversville area with her family in 1969 when her husband, Howard, returned from his position as an engineer with ARMA on Long Island.

She was a homemaker and had held various teaching positions in her lifetime. She retired in 1982 from the Fulton County Department of Social Services. She was a member of the Johnstown Chapter of D.A.R., a former member of the Fulton County Children’s Committee, the Fulton County Historical Society and the Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens.

Lois is survived by: three daughters, Karen DesJardins (Peter) of Mayfield, Beth Benjamin (Timothy) of Gloversville and Marilyn Black (Carl) of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by: her grandchildren, Eric, Daniel, Meghan, Ryan, Katie and Emily; as well as two great-grandchildren. Lois was predeceased in 2011 by her husband, Howard J. Rumrill, whom she had married in 1961.
