Patricia Ann Hayner

Miss Patricia Ann Hayner, 85 years old, of Charles Lane, Amsterdam, N.Y., died Sunday at Mountain Vally Hospice House in Gloversville.

She was born September 3, 1927, in Amsterdam, the daughter of Ellsworth and Georgiana Dodds Hayner. Miss Hayner lived in W. Sand Lake for two years. She resided in Amsyterdam ever since. She was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School, class of 1945, and of the Amsterdam School of Commerce.

Miss Hayner had been employed by the former Amsterdam Savings Bank for 22 years, retiring in 1992 as assistant secretary. She was the first woman officer in the history of the bank.

Miss Hayner was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and held many positions in the church. She was a member of the community affairs committee of the former Amsterdam Chamber of Commerce, the B.P.W. Association, the Savings Bank Woman of the Capital District and of Upper New York and a member of the Sanford Home for Elderly Women Board of Lady Managers.

Miss Hayner enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially the younger members. She played bridge although she always underplayed her ability.

Miss Hayner is survived by: her cousins, Mary Jane Dodds of Guilderland, Candace J. Underwood of Middle Grove, David Quick of Lawrenceville, Ga., Jeffrey Quick of Suwanee, Ga., Alison Underwood of Bridport, Vt. and Kate Underwood of May, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at noon Sunday, March 17, 2013, at United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church Street, Amsterdam, with the Rev. James McLeod Jr. officiating. A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 11 a.m. at the church. Cremation will take place at Vale Crematorium. Memorial contributions may be made: Sanford Home for Elderly Women or the United Presbyterian Church.
