Patricia G. (Moore) Hill

Patricia G. (Moore) Hill

Mrs. Patricia G. (Moore) Hill, 74, of Salisbury Center, N.Y., went to be with the Lord, peacefully in the comfort of her home, with her family at her bedside on March 7, 2013. Some knew her by the name, “Val.”

She was born on November 20, 1938, in Salisbury Center, N.Y., a daughter of the late Leon and Bessie (Tansley) Moore. She was the youngest of twelve children, six boys, and six girls. Val attended Stratford Central School.

On January 24, 1959, Val was united in marriage to Gerald Hill at the Dolgeville Methodist Church. They shared 54 blessed years together this past year.

In her early years, Val was employed by Daniel Green Shoe Company in Dolgeville, N.Y., and in later years, her last place of employment was with Arrow Leather in Johnstown, N.Y.

Along with her husband, Gerald, she owned and operated a few businesses in Fulton County, the last being the Emmonsburg Grill in Emmonsburg, N.Y. near Stratford, N.Y.

She always loved flowers with all their beautiful colors. Val also loved working with flowers and this was her relaxation. She was a great whistler and her family loved to hear her whistle. In her past time, Val liked playing cards and had many good times with her family and friends in doing so. Over the years, her pets were always important to her.

As a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and sister, her greatest moments were those spent in the company of her loving family; getting together, playing ball, having picnics, sledding downhill in winter, having big meals together and laughing a lot. Val was a committed and devoted family woman and will be greatly missed by them.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Gerald; six children: her two daughters, Betty Daley Cool (Marc), Tammy Hill; her four sons, Rodney Daley (Pam), Robert Daley (Lori), Gerald Hill Jr. (Cheryl) and Todd Hill (Jennell); a daughter-in-law, Jackie Hill; two sisters, Bessie Davis and Maggie Denopole; twenty-six grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Scott Hill Sr. in 2003; three sisters, Daisy Randall, Flossy Cool and Edna Singer; and six brothers, Arnold, Jess, Gordon, Hiram, Harold and Leon Moore.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, N.Y. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2013, also at the funeral home, with Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will be in Salisbury Rural Cemetery in the spring at a time to be announced.

While Val was sick, she was always grateful to have someone pray for her and she was always concerned about others. The Hill family would like to thank the people that prayed for her and to give a special thank you to Laurie Broat, RN, who went above and beyond to care for Val while she was sick. Many thanks are also extended to Hospice & Palliative Care. Lastly, the Hill family would like to thank her husband, Gerald, for his constant and steadfast love and care for his beloved wife. His love and dedication to his wife as her main caregiver, gave Val many more years with her family.

In lieu of floral offerings, please consider memorial contributions for the Salisbury Fire Department, 2549 Route 29, Salisbury Center, NY 13454 or the Herkimer County Humane Society, P.O. Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
