Virginia R. Noyes, 94, of Gloversville, passed away on Wednesday, March 20. 2013, at The Connecticut Hospice, Branford, Conn., following a long illness.
She was born on September 1, 1918, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Lewis and Kathryn (Godfrey) Reynolds.
Mrs. Noyes was a 1935 graduate of Gloversville High School. She had worked for over 25 years in the insurance industry, starting at Richard Green Agency in Gloversville, then working for the Gladys Putman Agency and retiring as a secretary at The Thomas Kevlin Insurance Agency in Johnstown.
Virginia was a former member of the Mayfield Methodist Church, and the former Gloversville First Presbyterian Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, choir member and a member of the Mothers Circle.
She was a member of the Insurance Women of Fulton County, the Gloversville YWCA, Friends of the Gloversville Library, AARP and the Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens Center.
Virginia was married to Raymond Noyes on February 8, 1941; he predeceased her on August 13, 2005.
She is survived by: her sons, David R. Noyes of Harpursville, N.Y. and Steven C. Noyes of Madison, Conn.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, with the Rev. Linda Martin officiating. Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from noon until 1 p.m. Burial will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
