Concetta Guiffre, 86, of Tribes Hill, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2013, with her loving family by her side. Concetta was a devout Roman Catholic and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Tribes Hill. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Concetta was born on December 12, 1926, to the late Salvatore Peluso and Vincenza LaPenta Peluso. She was a lifelong area resident who was very active and enjoyed life. Concetta was a member of the Glen-Mohawk Seniors and also the Iroquois Seniors. Concetta was first employed at Premier Glove Co. in Fultonville, N.Y., then went to work for the Montgomery County Infirmary. This Saturday, she would have been married 66 years to her loving husband, Joseph Guiffre Sr. Concetta loved to cook, especially when it came to the holidays. She always looked forward to having family over at the house and cooking and baking a nice meal. Family really was her life and pride and joy. She also loved to travel with her husband. Almost every year they would vacation in Florida. Concetta also enjoyed spending time in her garden or putting together a puzzle. Shopping and going out to dinner also brought her joy.
Concetta is survived by: her loving husband, Joseph Guiffre Sr.; sons, Joseph Guiffre Jr. (Beverly) and Larry Guiffre (Pam); her daughter, Linda Matousek (Wayne); grandchildren, Matthew Guiffre, Sharon Crahan, Susan Gutmaker, Michael Guiffre, and Christopher Guiffre; sister, Laura Ricciardi. Several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews also survive. She was predeceased not only by her parents but also brothers Joseph Peluso, Alexander Peluso and Anthony Peluso and her 10-month-old brother, Baby Anthony. Her sister, Mary Virgilio, also predeceased her.
The family asks that relatives and friends attend a calling period from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tribes Hill. A Mass of Christian burial will immediately follow the calling period at 11 a.m. with Fr. Pat Iannotti and Fr. Patrick Gallagher, OFM conv. to concelebrate. An interment will immediately follow the Mass at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Concetta’s memory to the Kateri Shrine, P.O.
