Mrs. Elizabeth E. Brookins, age 90, of Saratoga Springs, formerly of Gloversville, died peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013, surrounded by family members at Saratoga Hospital.
She was born December 7, 192, in Little Falls, N.Y., the daughter of the late Paul and Elizabeth Klimik Krutz. She was raised and educated in Pattersonville and was a 1939 graduate of Woestina High School.
Mrs. Brookins lived in Gloversville for many years where she was employed as a secretary for the late Fulton County District Attorney Thomas Persico. She was an active lifetime member of the former St. James Lutheran Church until she moved to reside at The Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga where she remained active in interfaith services.
Elizabeth was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved gardening, birds, baking and cooking.
On February 14, 1942, Elizabeth was married to Milton G. Brookins at the Woestina Reformed Church. Mr. Brookins died July 20, 1998.
She is survived by three sons, Gilbert M. Brookins (Marlene) of Delmar, Keith P. Brookins (Eileen) of Saratoga Lake and Craig A. Brookins (Carol) of Gloversville; five grandchildren, Jonathan Brookins, Betsey Danz, Andrew Brookins, Amanda Ellinger and Brendan Moss. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren; and a nephew, Larry Kruger (Bonnie) of Pattersonville.
In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was predeceased by a grandson, Kevin Brookins; and her sister, Mildred Kruger.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 7th at Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St; Broadalbin, where a funeral service will follow at 9:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
