Beulah A. Ball Wright

Beulah A. “Pogie” Ball Wright, 81, passed away on Saturday morning, June 29, 2013, at her home in Mayfield.

She was born in Saratoga Springs on July 27, 1931, a daughter of Louis and Christine Michel Ball and attended St. Clements School. She later graduated from Saratoga Springs High School where she was a member of the majorette squad. One of her fond memories was when she proudly marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving day parade with the squad.

Pogie married Kenneth F. Wright on November 18, 1951, and shortly after they settled in Mayfield.

Known as “Pogie” to her friends and family, and “Marv” to her children, she lived a long and happy life. She enjoyed participating in the Bannertown Ladies Bowling League in the ’60s and ’70s. She also enjoyed hiking in the Adirondacks, playing piano, feeding her squirrels, and the company of her many pets, family, and friends.

Mrs. Wright was employed at the Fulton County Farm Bureau and later at the Mayfield Elementary School. She retired from HFM BOCES in 1993 as an accounts payable clerk in the business office.

Her husband, Kenneth died July 7, 1995. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Louis Ball; and a sister, Bobbie Gaetano.

Survivors include four sons, Kenneth (Christine) Wright of Ballston Spa, Keith (Angie) Wright of Outer Banks, N.C., Kevin Wright of Mayfield, and Kerry Wright of Coatsville, Pa.; a daughter, Karen (Kenneth) Fuelleman of Mayfield; a sister, Marion Priester of Saratoga Springs; her grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Wright of Middle Grove, Kristen and Amelia Wright of Boston, Mass., Rebecca Wright of Denver, Colo., Meghan Stevens of Stillwater, Karin Fuelleman of Schuylerville, and Whitney and Nicholas Wright of Ballston Spa; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown. A service will follow at 12:30 p.m., with the Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating. Burial will be in the Greenridge Cemetery, Saratoga Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, both in care of the funeral home.
