Florence M. Hammer, 91, of Gloversville, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 24, 2013, at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home.
Born on August 1, 1921, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Shutts) Guinup. She was educated in Gloversville and was a graduate of the Gloversville Business School.
Florence was married to William A. Hammer on October 18, 1940. William passed away on April 27, 2007. Following her marriage to William, the couple settled in Gloversville.
Mrs. Hammer was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, former Sacred Heart Rosary Society, both of Gloversville, AARP, Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens Center, and in her younger years, Florence enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by her daughter, Florence A. Brothers and son-in-law, Donald Brothers of Clifton Park. Several cousins also survive.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, July27, 2013, at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a prayer service will follow, with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Interment will take place in FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown.
