Antoinette (TonyE) L. Grega

Antoinette (TonyE) L. Grega, 53, of Northville, N.Y., devoted wife of Timothy J. Grega, loving mother to daughter, Adrienne (Kenneth) Ginter of Mayfield, and sons, James and Joseph Grega, entered into eternal rest in the wee hours of September 2, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving and forever grateful family, including her grandchildren, Landon and Lexi Ginter.

TonyE was born on June 11, 1960, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, New York to Gloria (Lynch) and George J. Frank of Johnstown, N.Y.

TonyE graduated from Johnstown High School in 1978 and in 2006 graduated from Fulton-Montgomery Community College, realizing her dream to become a Registered Nurse. Her motto always being to persevere, even her automobile license plate displayed the word “Persevere.”

As a Registered Nurse, she worked at Mountain Valley Hospice and most recently at Lexington Center. Prior to that she worked at the Fulton County Planning Department and the Johnstown Hospital.

Her legacy, besides persevering, was helping and doing for others. She never missed an opportunity to reach out to someone in need as evidenced by the steady stream of friends, who walked with her and supported her during her courageous battle with cancer. She forgave her trespassers, was always quick to smile, to hug, to accept, to welcome, to encourage, and to love. She made everyone she knew feel like they were part of her family. TonyE touched so many lives, more than she ever knew. Her kindness and courage were an inspiration to all who were blessed to know her. Her only regret was not being able to continue as a mother and grandmother for her children and grandchildren.

Besides her husband and children, she is survived by two loving sisters, Diane Czechowicz, (Peter) of Middle Grove, N.Y., Jennifer Jetty and companion, John Barker, of Northville; and her adoring brother, Patrick Thompson, of Port Aransas, Texas; her mother-in-law and friend, Mary Ann Grega and companion, Clarence Gagne of Northville; her brother-in-law, Wayne Grega (Stephanie) of Florida; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; and father-in-law, James Grega.

A Celebratory Service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 501 Bridge St., Northville, NY 12134, at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013, followed by a celebration of her life at the Grega home on 113 Collins Gifford Valley Road, in Northville, NY. All her family and friends are invited to attend. The family would like to acknowledge the Northville-Edinburg community for all their support, her friends from Lexington Center and Mountain Valley Hospice, Jackie and the Four Corners Diner, Dr. Castro, and all her friends who were there day in and day out.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sacandaga Helping Hands, P.O. Box 993, Northville, NY 12134, and/or Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.

Arrangements are being handled by the Ottman Funeral Home of Cherry Valley, N.Y. To sign her guest book or light a candle in memory of an angel (TonyE) who walked among us, go to: www.ottmanfuneralhome.com.
