Mrs. Alice J. Puski passed away peacefully on January 22, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 25, 1922, in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Irma Hitrick. She was a graduate of both Gloversville High School and the Gloversville Business School, and worked as a secretary and later worked and retired from the CVS drug store. She loved to garden, read, crochet, knit and also enjoyed casino trips.
Alice was awarded a lifetime membership with the New York State PTA Association. She was a member of the Johnstown Senior Citizens Center and also attended events at the Gloversville Senior Center. She was a longtime member of the Silhouette Card Club.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol Puski and Patricia Townsend (James); and beloved grandson, Matthew Townsend; her brother, Alexander Hitrick Jr. (Shirley); nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, who died December 14, 2003; and a brother, Raymond.
At Alice’s request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in the spring. Remembrances may be made to the Johnstown or Gloversville Senior Centers or to a charity of one’s choice.
