Theresa Mary Perna “Terry” Piazza, 91, of Troy, died February 6, 2016. Born in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Perna and the wife of the late Joseph Piazza.
Terry was educated in the Gloversville schools where she also studied music. She had been employed by her father in his leather shop, moved to Cohoes briefly, then moved to Troy where she had been employed in sales in the drapery department at Troy Covering Shoppe. Later, she became a licensed real estate agent employed with the Roland Babbitt Agency. Terry was an active member of the former St. William’s Church and loved children and animals.
Survivors include two children, Catherine (Butch) Ricciuti and Michael Piazza; two grandchildren, Sarah and Amber Ricciuti; four great-grandchildren; her brothers, Pat, Donald (Max), Fred (Mary), Robert (Coreen), David, and Raymond (Carol) Perna; sisters, Virginia Perna and Linda (David) Cook; her in-laws, Roy (Jenny), Andrew (Marie), Peter (Patricia), Angeline (Floyd Blowers), Anthony (Sophie), Louis (Gail), and Frank (Peggy) Piazza; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Terry was predeceased by her siblings, Connie Putnam, Louis Perna Jr., Adora Ort, and Richard Perna; and by her in-laws, Carmella Piazza (David DiMezza) and Ralph (Terry) Piazza.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Troy, where the Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home in Troy on Wednesday from 9 until 10 a.m. prior to the church service.
